Results of the II International Forum of Filmmakers

According to the results of the II International Forum of Filmmakers, which was held from June 20 to 22 in Shushensky, Ermakovsky districts and Minusinsk, the planned number of filming in the Krasnoyarsk Territory will increase.

Forum organizer: RSAIC «Enisey Kino» with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Partners: Union of Cinematographers of Russia, Association of Film and Television Producers (APKiT), Regional Cinema Support Fund.

The main goal of the film forum is to stimulate the development of film production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory: the exchange of experience will help the participants build effective partnerships and unite all those interested in the development of the film business in the region.

For three days, leading Russian and foreign producers, film directors, representatives of film companies discussed the tasks and prospects for the development of film production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The program for the participants was rich and active: there were round tables, meetings with the heads of cities and municipal districts of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, discussion platforms, producer tours, hiking in picturesque places, a film project competition (pitching), film screenings and creative meetings.

Acting Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Film Commission Vasily Nelyubin:

“People who shoot interesting and high-quality projects came to the film forum. And, I hope, they will be implemented in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. On the part of the authorities, I can say that we definitely have an understanding of what is needed for the development of the film industry in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.”

Business program

At the round table «Prospects for the development of film production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory», the tasks and prospects for the development of film production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory were discussed.

Irina Belova, Director Genral of the Regional State Autonomous Institution of Culture «Enisey Kino» : “Exactly one year ago we met with the producers at the l International Film Forum. And during this time a lot has happened. The Law on State Support for Cinematography in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was adopted, the 8-episode historical drama Krasny Yar and seasons of the TV series The Magnificent Five and The First Department were filmed with the participation of about 90 actors from the Krasnoyarsk Territory in 6 territories of the region. A film commission was created in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and rebates appeared. Thanks to the Triix Media film company, 24 Krasnoyarsk specialists were trained in supporting film professions in St. Petersburg. Also, with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, SPBIKiT and «Enisey Kino» trained 28 specialists under the professional retraining program.”

(Minusinsk) hosted a discussion platform on the topic «Planning film production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory», where film producers discussed ideas and proposals for preparing a concept for the development of cinematography in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The moderators were: Acting Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Chairman of the Film Commission of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Vasily Nelyubin and Director General of the Moviestart Production Center, Deputy Executive Director of the Fund for Support of Regional Cinema of the Russian Federation, Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Yakunin.

Sergey Shcheglov, General Director of the Triix Media film company: “People in the Krasnoyarsk Territory are not indifferent to the art of cinema. The biggest obstacle is distance. Yenisei Cinema has acquired a lighting complex, which will facilitate the relocation of the film crew from other cities. The Krasnoyarsk Territory has a rich natural design. And there is a lot of creativity here. The people of the Krasnoyarsk Territory love cinema, they understand cinema!”

Director of the Krasnoyarsk Regional College of Culture and Art (Minusinsk) Valentina Barabash: “In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a large number of students study acting, they need someone to attract them to work. We have a lot of guys who can show their talent!”

At the summing up of the pitching of film projects, the Mayor of Minusinsk, Andrei Pervukhin, thanked the participants of the film forum: “Thank you very much to Yenisei Cinema and the team that prepared this event. Also many thanks to the team of experts! I hope you enjoyed our South Krasnoyarsk land. If you have visited Minusinsk once, then you are no longer a guest, but a countryman. We are always waiting for you!

On June 22, on the final day of the II International Forum of Filmmakers, six agreements were signed: between Yenisei Kino and the Triix Media film company, the Regional Film Support Fund, the VSTRECHA studio, the production center of Dmitry Klepatsky, and the production center World Russian Studios. And also an agreement was signed between the film studio «Belarusfilm», the film commission of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and «Enisey Kino».

Producer tours

The guests were given a production tour of natural places in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The guests visited the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP, the Church of St. Evdokia the Martyr in the village of Sizaya. In the village of Subbotino, film industry experts were introduced to Siberian crafts, treated to strawberries, and shown how to bake pancakes in a Russian oven.

The forum participants visited the Shushenskoye airport, the Shushenskoye Museum-Reserve, the Migninskoye reservoir in the Ermakovo district, the Buibinskiy pass, Lake Oyskoye, Lake Raduzhnoye in the natural park Ergaki. In the future, locations can be considered when creating new film projects.

Film screenings

From June 20 to June 22, 7 free film screenings were held for the residents of Minusinsk and Shushenskoye, which were personally presented by film producers, as well as the winners of the film project competition (pitching) in 2022.

The film Undermining (dir. Ivan Pavlov, Belarus).

The film «Fog» (dir. Natalia Gugueva).

During the three days of the film forum, 1142 spectators came to film screenings in Shushenskoye and Minusinsk.

Day of Remembrance and Sorrow

On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the guests of the film forum laid flowers on Victory Square in Minusinsk, supported the all-Russian Minute of Silence campaign and held it together with the audience who came to the cinema to watch films dedicated to the Day of Memory and Sorrow.

Film project competition (pitching)

A competition of film projects (pitching) was held. Organizers: the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, RSAIC «Enisey Kino», the Fund for Support of Regional Cinema of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the production center «Movistart».

Out of 159 entries, 137 of them in the Feature Films or Series category, 22 in the Documentary category, 5 projects were selected in each category, which took part in the project competition.

In the Documentary category, the winner was the Tanzybey Prometheus project, directed by Oksana Veselova and produced by Ivan Voloshin (Krasnoyarsk).

The Krasnoyarsk Brief project won in the Feature Film or TV Series category, scriptwriters Anastasia Beloshapkina, Elizaveta Boyarinova, Ivan Chernikov, Dmitry Sinitsin, directors Anastasia Beloshapkina, Elizaveta Boyarinova, Ivan Chernikov, producers Dmitry Rezvykh, Ekaterina Rakova, Mikhail Nelzin (Krasnoyarsk)”.

The winners received a cash prize in the amount of 1 million rubles in the Feature Film category; 500 thousand rubles — in the category «Documentary». Project competition.
